Seminar on ‘Launching GNSS Ionospheric Observatory: New Horizon of Collaborative Space Research in Bangladesh’

A Seminar titled ‘Launching GNSS Ionospheric Observatory: New Horizon of Collaborative Space Research in Bangladesh’ has been arranged at Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) on 25 Jun 2024.

Mr. Md. Ashraf Uddin, Secretary, Ministry of Defence, has graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the seminar. He stated that undoubtedly this seminar will benefit MIST by advancing scientific research, fostering education and innovation, enhancing national and global collaboration, and providing critical operational, economic, and societal benefits. He believes that this significant milestone will mark a new horizon in our pursuit of scientific excellence and technological advancement. He encouraged the young generations to work hand in hand to overcome challenges in the field of science and technology and create a better world for all.

Major General Mohammad Saidul Islam, rcds, ndc, psc, Commandant, MIST was present in the seminar as Chief Patron. He has mentioned about importance of space research using GNSS technology in the context of Bangladesh. He further added that, MIST by joining hands to the international community on ionospheric monitoring, scientists around the world can better understand space weather and provide early warnings for solar events, while engineers of our country can develop improved protection systems for the society.

The distinguished keynote speakers have discussed how the governmental research institute Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) is deeply involved in promoting scientific knowledge. They have also expressed their hope that with the Cooperation Agreement established in 2021 with the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), INGV seeks to enhance scientific collaboration in Bangladesh and bolster monitoring capabilities across the Asian continent by installing an Ionospheric Observatory.
