Proposed Strategic Objectives

  1. Set the student experience on campus as a foundation for our internationalization efforts

a. Encourage student leadership and engagement in international and intercultural activities
b. Ensure all international students and visiting scholars encounter a receptive campus and responsive support services
c. Set international student retention and success as well as international pathways as the focus of our international recruitment
d. Develop learning options to ensure incoming international students have the language and academic readiness needed for success

  1. Create opportunities for our students to graduate with a global learning experience

a. Develop international experiential learning opportunities within Faculty‐driven experiential learning programs
b. Increase the number of outbound exchange students and expand their options at overseas partner institutions
c. Develop alternative international learning options, including collaborative programs with partner institutions

  1. Build our strength in research through expanded international collaboration

a. Develop multi‐faceted, multi‐Faculty, research‐intensive international partnerships that are aligned with our strengths and strategic goals
b. Increase the international collaborations of our researchers to build our international presence
c. Build reciprocal exchange pathways for students to undertake international research

  1. Enhance our institutional capacity for internationalization

a. Directly engage faculties and faculty members as leaders and catalysts of internationalization
b. Develop comprehensive policies and procedures and consistent University/Institution‐wide coordination for internationalization
c. Leverage local community and business partnerships to create international opportunities for students and faculty
d. Leverage our strength in technology‐enriched and on‐line learning to expand access to international education and partnerships.
e. Align our communications, advancement and outreach efforts to enhance our international presence and recognition
